Job summary

Collins Aerospace is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer II for its MRO facility in West Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on planning, designing, and executing maintenance, repair and overhaul processes for aerospace products and facilities.

The position supports 2nd shift (3:30 PM–Midnight, Mon–Fri), with possible start-time adjustments (as early as 1:00 PM–9:30 PM) based on preference and relocation assistance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Lean manufacturing principles knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with small teams.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops manufacturing repair and overhaul processes for products, which may include new or revised processes.
• Develops procedures for the economical product overhaul and repair in cooperation with the production department and FAA Repair Station requirements.
• Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
• May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
• Proposes the sequence of operations and installations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, which may include disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
• Participates in the development of manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production.
• Checks and validate that mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with, as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to
