Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to join our Avionics Design team within the Core Systems and Components group in Huntsville. You will develop embedded software for avionics and propulsion hardware, collaborating with FPGA designers for robust, high-performance systems.

You will drive the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment, develop low-level drivers, and support hardware bring-up while adhering to safety-critical standards and SDLC practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe)
• Experience with FPGA interfaces and register-level hardware integration
• Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG
• Proficiency with Git and software lifecycle practices
• U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software in C/C++ for high voltage power systems
• Collaborate with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers for HW/SW integration
• Oversee all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment
• Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded hardware platforms
• Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification activities
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and documentation
• Develop and execute software verification and validation plans including unit/integration tests
• Ensure software development adheres to applicable standards
