Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to join the Avionics Design team within the Core Systems and Components group. You will develop embedded software for Avionics and Electric Propulsion hardware, collaborating with FPGA designers and circuit teams to deliver high-performance software for aerospace applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe).
• Experience with FPGA interfaces and register-level hardware integration.
• Strong debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
• Familiarity with Git and software development lifecycle.
• U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software in C/C++ for high voltage power systems.
• Collaborate with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers for hardware/software integration.
• Drive all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded platforms.
• Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification activities.
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and documentation.
• Develop and execute software verification and validation plans, including tests.
• Ensure software development adheres to applicable standards.
