Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to join the Avionics Design team in Huntsville, AL. You will develop embedded software for avionics and propulsion hardware, collaborating with FPGA and electrical designers across the full software lifecycle.

The role requires 5+ years in embedded software, C/C++, RTOS, and strong HW/SW interface experience (SPI/I2C/UART, PCIe). U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer/Electrical Engineering, CS or related field.
• 5+ years embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS and hardware interfaces.
• Familiarity with FPGA interfaces and hardware integration.
• Strong debugging with oscilloscopes and JTAG.
• Git version control and SDLC familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for high voltage power systems.
• Collaborate with FPGA and electrical designers for HW/SW integration.
• Lead software lifecycle phases from requirements to deployment.
• Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded platforms.
• Support bring-up, debugging, and verification activities.
• Contribute to software architecture and design reviews.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and regression tests.
• Ensure development adheres to applicable standards.
