Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Production/Composites Technician in Santa Fe Springs, CA. The role supports the manufacture of lightweight, corrosion-resistant composite and metallic structures for the aerospace, defense, space, and aviation markets.

Responsibilities include layup work with carbon fiber, Kevlar, fiberglass, reading blueprints, ensuring quality, and trimming molds. The position requires safety awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with composites using a variety of machinist hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Must be familiar with blueprints and documents and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Must communicate effectively and read/understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must work in a manufacturing environment and be able to extend hours as required.
• Ability to read safety rules and layup/procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and reseals tools using release systems.
• Inspects completed products for conformance to specifications and defects; visual checks.
• Completes internal and customer layup documents.
• Trims excess material from molds with hand shears or knives.
• Maintains awareness of FOD and tool controls.
• Performs composite layups (carbon pre-preg, carbon fibers, Kevlar, fiberglass).
• Builds parts free of wrinkles, air pockets, and voids.
• Cuts materials to size and bags composites for oven-curing.
