Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley.

The role focuses on developing fast, testable CAD models for free-flight and forced-oscillation experiments, including geometry variations and mounting interfaces. The internship requires coursework in mechanical or aerospace engineering, with CAD experience and familiarity with .igs/.stp formats, and the ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Qualifications

• Undergrad or grad student in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
• Minimum of 2 years' CAD modeling experience or 2 CAD-related course semesters.
• Experience with .igs or .stp formats and related CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and other CAD formats used for design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces at specified reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar methods.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
