Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support NASA Langley’s Flight Dynamics Research Facility. The role focuses on rapid prototype fabrication of free-flight and forced-oscillation models, including geometry variations for stability tests.

The intern will develop CAD models in .igs/.stp and native formats, create oscillation configurations, and enable movable centers of gravity for validation data in trajectory simulations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience developing CAD models or course work (2 semesters).
• Proficiency with .igs or .step and native CAD formats required.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models in .igs/.stp and native CAD format used for design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with correct mounting interfaces.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for secure mounting to balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models for wind tunnel models using 3D printing methods.
• Design models with movable center of gravity.
