Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley.

The role focuses on developing free flight and forced oscillation models for rapid prototype fabrication and validating trajectory simulations. Projects include creating CAD models in .igs or .stp, configuring oscillation setups, and enabling a movable center of gravity.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate student with a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing CAD models or 2 semesters of relevant CAD course work.
• Experience with .igs or .stp, as well as the native CAD format.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in the form of .igs or .stp, as well as the native CAD format used for the design work.
• Develop CAD models for oscillation configurations that include location of mounting interface at specified reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for accurate and reliable mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing methods or similar.
• Design the models to enable a movable center of gravity.
