Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to ensure donor eligibility, monitor safety, and support center operations in Rockford, IL. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, following BioLife and FDA guidelines.

The role requires LPN/LVN licensure in the state, CPR/AED certification, and two years of clinical experience, with training aligned to BioLife Medical Support Specialist requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs; manage emergencies including center physician orders and transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further occupational health evaluation is needed; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
