Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations in Rockford, IL. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests under physician guidance.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, adhering to plasma industry regulations and BioLife policies to ensure high-quality donor care and center performance.

Qualifications

• State-licensed practical nurse (LPN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in the applicable state.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
• Familiar with plasma industry regulations or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs; assist with center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for evaluation by occupational health/ER with EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
