Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Rockford, IL is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility and monitor donor safety within a regulated plasma collection center. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company SOPs.

The role requires LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy training, and at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
