Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Advanced Level Medical Support Assistant to join a clinic-backed healthcare team. You will support scheduling, patient intake, data entry, and coordination with VA and community care partners to ensure timely access to care.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and may have prior experience at GS-5 level; strong knowledge of medical terminology and effective communication across disciplines is required.

Qualifications

One year of experience equivalent to GS-5 level, with duties such as scheduling, updating demographics and insurance, and coordinating transfers.
Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to communicate with a wide range of clinicians.
Ability to set priorities, organize work, and meet deadlines within established policies.

Responsibilities

Schedule, cancel, re-schedule patient appointments and/or consults.
Enter no-show information and monitor appointment requests from multiple electronic sources.
Coordinate administrative functions related to patient transfers to other facilities.
Verify and update demographics and insurance information at check-in.
Assist in preparing reports and presenting data to organizational levels.
