Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an experienced estimator to provide technical engineering and cost information to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards on major projects. You will interpret drawings, coordinate with on-site departments, prepare take-offs, and support bid development and project execution.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, with proficiency in MS Office and AGTEK Take-off.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AGTEK Take-off software.
• Knowledge of drawings, construction materials, and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to meet contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
• Interpret design/drawings for craft workers installing material to ensure specifications are followed.
• Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and support project schedule.
• Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, and errors to ensure compliance.
• Prepare and disseminate status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material calculations for supervisor accuracy.
• Provide technical direction on project material controls to minimize additional costs.
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Develop data for quantity take-offs, material prices, labor costs per hour, and equipment for estimates.
• Research historical data and productivity reports to develop guidelines for future estimates.
• May supervise and mentor project staff to ensure standards are met.
• Assist in representing company during client and project management meetings.
