Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a civil engineering estimation professional to provide technical engineering and cost information to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards. You will interpret designs, assist with job controls, and prepare take-offs for bids.

You will collaborate with on-site teams, produce drawings and sketches for construction work, and develop schedules, material requirements, and cost analyses to support accurate bids and project execution.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, or related experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Strong math skills including trigonometry.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive.

Job description

• Provide technical engineering and cost information to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards
• Assist with job controls for contract, budget, schedule, forecasting, and job costing compliance
• Interpret designs and drawings for craft workers installing materials
• Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and ensure quality construction
• Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors
• Prepare and disseminate status reports, punch lists, completed-work sketches, and material requirement calculations
• Provide technical support and direction for project material controls, delivery dates, construction schedules, and design requirements
• Prepare drawings and sketches for construction work, change orders, and estimates
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and material installation
• Develop quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man hour, and equipment data for estimates and bids
• Research historical data and productivity analysis reports to develop guidelines for future estimates
• May supervise, direct, and mentor project staff
• Represent the company, project, and/or department in client and project management meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience
• 2+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience
• Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with scheduling and AGTEK Take-off software
• Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques
• Working knowledge of drawings, specifications, building materials, and applicable standards
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator
• Ability to assume responsibility and interface and communicate effectively with others
• Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives

• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
• Ability to work around large construction equipment and comply with safety requirements
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
