Job summary

Halo Investing in Chicago is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our HR team in a hybrid role (3 days in the office). You will own payroll processing in ADP Workforce Now and administer benefits for ~100 employees, guiding managers and staff on program choices and enrollment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of payroll/benefits experience, strong attention to detail, and solid communication to support Halo’s culture. Competitive compensation and robust benefits are included.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience handling payroll and employee benefits.
• Experience with payroll processes for salaried employees in ADP.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support employees.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Fully own Halo’s payroll processing in ADP, including ongoing payroll and year-end processes.
• Administer employee benefit programs and manage annual benefits enrollment.
• Process benefit enrollments, changes and terminations in ADP HRIS and ensure accuracy in portals.
• Collaborate with external benefit partners to ensure program success.
• Proactively research changes in benefits market to offer competitive plans.
• Maintain accurate employee records in ADP HRIS/payroll system.
• Ensure ACA and other regulatory reporting accuracy.
• Handle payroll tax filings in coordination with state and federal agencies and Halo's accounting team.
