Job summary

Advanced Resources in Chicago (southwest side) seeks a Senior Manager, Payroll & Benefits to serve as the SME for payroll, benefits, HRIS, and compliance programs. You will own accurate payroll administration, benefits management, and oversight of the HR technology platform, advising leadership on improvements and data-driven decisions.

Reporting to the VP of HR, this role is an individual contributor with a hybrid schedule (3 days on-site).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in payroll, benefits, or HR operations
• Demonstrated vendor management experience and leading operational improvements
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and wage/hour laws
• Experience with Paylocity, ADP, Paycom or comparable HRIS/payroll platform
• Certifications CPP, CEBS, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred
• Hybrid work schedule (3 days on-site) with payroll cycle flexibility

Responsibilities

• Lead accurate, bi-weekly payroll administration including tax reporting, reconciliations, retirement contributions, garnishments, and year-end/audit activities
• Administer health, welfare, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefits; lead Open Enrollment and benefits communications
• Serve as primary administrator for payroll/HRIS system and related HR technologies; ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy
• Develop dashboards, metrics and analytics for leadership insight into payroll and benefits performance
• Ensure compliance with payroll, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, wage and hour regulations
• Oversee third-party leave administrator and coordinate payroll/benefits impacts of leaves
• Manage vendor relationships across payroll, HRIS, benefits, retirement, wellness, and leave administration
• Provide consultative support to employees and leaders on payroll, benefits, and HRIS
