Job summary

The City of Overland Park is seeking a full-time ADA Accommodation & Risk Specialist in the Human Resources Department to oversee ADA programs and the interactive process. You will coordinate with employees, supervisors, HR, and Legal to evaluate accommodation requests, guide options, and maintain documentation for compliance.

This role emphasizes collaboration with the ADA committee, training, and continuous process improvements to support an optimal employee experience while ensuring adherence

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in HR, organizational development, public administration, business administration, or related field; and 2 years HR experience; OR PHR or higher with 3 years HR experience; OR 5 years HR with 3 at professional level.

Responsibilities

• Lead the interactive process for accommodation requests and be the primary contact throughout the process.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for workplace accommodations and guide employees and leaders.
• Review accommodation requests, documentation, job requirements, and needs to identify reasonable options.
• Consult with the ADA committee regarding decisions, implementation, and ongoing management.
• Partner with HR and Legal when accommodations intersect with leave, medical restrictions, or return-to-work.
