Job Summary and Qualifications

The Acute Care Outpatient Coding Lead acts as the daily contact for coding, DRG/code validation, and operational questions from the coding staff, HSC staff, and shared service center departments. You will support coding leadership by coordinating activities related to coding and education within the HSC, ensuring complete, accurate, and consistent coding for appropriate reimbursement, data integrity, and minimal variation in practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and performing HSC coding quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Providing timely feedback and education on coding opportunities.
• Ensuring timely entry of rebill requests.
• Assisting with day-to-day coding questions and operations.
• Supporting process improvements and staff training.
• Reviewing accounts to ensure accuracy, cash flow, and compliance with deadlines.
• Coordinating activities related to staff development and reporting on team performance.
• Verifying staff productivity and assisting in process verification.

Qualifications required:

• Management and supervisory experience in healthcare.
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care outpatient coding experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification, or in process of obtaining it.
• Associates degree or higher in HIM/HIT preferred.
