Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Acute Care Outpatient Coding Lead, you will serve as the primary contact for coding, DRG/code validation, and operational questions from coding staff and related departments. You will support coding leadership by coordinating coding and education activities within the HSC, ensuring accurate and consistent coding for proper reimbursement and data integrity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and performing HSC coding quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Providing feedback and education on coding opportunities.
• Ensuring timely rebill requests and account reviews to maintain cash flow and meet deadlines.
• Answering coding questions and assisting with day-to-day operations.
• Supporting process improvements and staff training.
• Reporting on team performance and training needs.
• Coaching team members and assisting in verifying staff productivity.

Qualifications required:

• Management and supervisory experience in healthcare.
• At least 5 years of outpatient acute care coding experience.
• At least 3 years of coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification (or in process).
• Associate's degree or higher in HIM/HIT preferred.
