Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Acute Care Outpatient Coding Lead, you will serve as the daily contact for coding, DRG/code validation, and operational questions from staff and departments. You will support coding leadership by coordinating activities and ensuring accurate coding for appropriate reimbursement and data integrity.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading coding quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Providing feedback and education on coding opportunities.
• Ensuring timely rebill requests.
• Answering coding questions and assisting staff.
• Improving processes and verifying coding accuracy.
• Coordinating training and development activities.
• Reporting on team performance and training needs.
• Coaching and problem-solving within the team.
• Verifying staff productivity and reporting.

Qualified candidates will possess:

• Management and supervisory experience in healthcare.
• At least 5 years of acute outpatient coding experience.
• At least 3 years of coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification (or in process).
• Associate's degree or higher in HIM/HIT preferred.
