Job summary

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company hiring a mechanical engineer to lead the detailed design of rotary and linear actuators for production. You will drive development in sensing and electromechanical gear systems, ensuring parts are manufacturable at scale and validated with durability testing.

The role emphasizes precision CAD work (NX/SolidWorks), GD&T expertise, and hands-on machining knowledge, with a US Person status requirement for access to controlled data.

Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 1-4 years of relevant experience.
• Owned mechanical design of at least 1 actuator from concept to production.
• Experience in design and analysis of geared actuation systems with rotary and linear gear reductions.
• CAD in NX or SolidWorks; understanding of casting, machining, hobbing, grinding, additive manufacturing.
• Proficient in mechanical drawings and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience procuring parts and working in a machine shop; knowledge of shop safety.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• US Person status is required due to access to export controlled data.

Responsibilities

• Own detailed mechanical design of rotary and linear actuators from conceptual phase into production.
• Drive development in sensing, eMachines, and electromechanical gear systems.
• Design with manufacturing and assembly in mind for high production rates.
• Evaluate cooling solutions for each application.
• Design durability test profiles using vehicle usage data.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement and data analysis initiatives.
