Job summary

Hy-Vee in Janesville seeks a Courtesy Clerk to support customers, keep the store clean, stocked and welcoming. You will package purchases, help customers to their car, and maintain carts, shelves, and front-end supplies.

This role emphasizes friendly service, physical activity, and willingness to work nights and weekends. Training is provided; no formal education or experience is required.

Qualifications

• No formal education or experience required; training will be provided.
• Stand and walk frequently during shifts.
• Able to lift and move merchandise as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every visit a great one
• Package customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation
• Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout your shift
• Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed
• Clean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and know the location of merchandise in the store and backroom
• Pull product forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance
• Check prices on products as needed
• Maintain front end supplies including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items
• Help train new courtesy clerks
• Deliver product to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines
• Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
