Job summary

Retif Oil & Fuel, a leading Southeast distributor, seeks an Accounts Receivable Clerk to handle payments, postings, reconciliations, and collection actions. You will work with credit, sales, and finance teams to secure payments and maintain accurate records.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 2+ years in accounting, strong communication, and proficiency with Word/Excel/Outlook. This full-time role offers benefits and on-site work in Harvey, LA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or related field preferred
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn internal accounting software

Responsibilities

• Post customer payments timely by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
• Post revenues by verifying and entering transactions from lock box and local deposits
• Reconcile credit card settlements
• Initiate EFT drafts and send customer draft notices
• Maintain records by microfilming invoices, debits, and credits
• Daily balancing of prior day’s bank sheet to payments received
• Research and solve payment discrepancies
• Protect organization’s values by keeping information confidential
• Resolve client-billing problems and reduce accounts receivable delinquency professionally
• Make daily collection calls to negotiate with past due accounts and follow up
• Collaborate with credit team, sales, and others to secure payments
• Monitor assigned accounts and research delinquent accounts
