Responsibilities

• Process incoming mail related to billing, payments, and invoicing.

• Monitor outstanding AR items and escalate issues to management as needed.
• Maintain accurate records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Position Overview

Industrial Service Solutions (ISS) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Accounting and Finance team. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in accounting and finance, with room for professional growth and career progression within the organization.

This is a hybrid position based in Houston, TX, with three days working in the office and two days working remotely each week.

The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays an important role in supporting the company's financial operations by ensuring customer payments are received, accurately recorded, and reconciled in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This individual will work closely with customers, internal departments, and management to resolve billing discrepancies, address outstanding payment issues, and support initiatives that improve cash flow and overall accounts receivable processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily, month-end, and year-end operations of the Accounting and Finance Department.
• Accurately post customer payments and deposits across multiple bank accounts and company entities.
• Process incoming mail related to customer billing, payments, and invoicing.
• Communicate with customers and internal departments to research and resolve billing discrepancies and payment questions.
• Monitor outstanding accounts receivable items and escalade collection concerns or payment issues to management as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance accounts receivable procedures, efficiencies, and cash flow management.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant accounts receivable experience in lieu of a degree.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Intermediate to advanced 10-key proficiency.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred, as it provides a strong foundation for long-term career growth and advancement within the company.
• ERP system experience, preferably with Sage 100 and Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience using AI tools and technologies to improve workflow efficiency, streamline processes, and support day-to-day business operations.
• Previous experience in a related industry.
