My client is seeking a hands-on Accounts Receivable Manager to lead and scale our centralized, multi-region billing and collections team. In this role, you will build systems rather than just run a department. You will own the outbound billing lifecycle, partner closely with the Assistant Controller on cash application, and directly drive sustained DSO reduction. This is a lead-by-example position for a builder who works alongside their team, standardizes processes, and handles complex escalations firsthand.
Core Responsibilities:
- Optimize Billing & Collections: Standardize playbooks for all billing types (AIA/progress, fixed-price, T&M, recurring). Own the AIA framework end-to-end, including schedules of values, G702/G703 apps, retainage, and portal submissions (Textura, Procore).
- Drive AR Automation: Serve as business owner for Quadient AR, maximizing automated workflows, dunning cadences, and integration with Sage Intacct and ConnectWise.
- Team Leadership: Coach a centralized team, establish KPIs, and implement cross-training to eliminate single-point dependencies.
- Cash Posting & Accounting Partnership: Collaborate with the cash posting team to resolve unapplied cash and short-pays. Own multi-state sales tax accuracy and exemption certificate management via Avalara.
- M&A Integration: Direct the customer-facing AR transition for newly acquired businesses, including data conversion, tax cutovers, and customer communication.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Deliver trusted AR aging, DSO, and cash forecasting metrics for leadership, month-end close, and external audits
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 7+ years in AR/collections, with 3+ years in a leadership role. Experience in construction, systems integration, or field services is strongly preferred.
- AIA Expertise: Deep familiarity with construction progress billing, lien waivers, and general contractor portals.
- Tech Stack: Proficiency with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP), Quadient AR (YayPay/similar automation), and Avalara tax software. Advanced Excel skills required.
- M&A Exposure: Experience managing AR integrations and customer transitions during company acquisitions. Private Equity (PE) background is a plus.
- Mindset: A roll-up-your-sleeves leader who balances tactical, day-to-day execution with strategic process improvement.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
