Job summary

West Virginia University Health System in Morgantown, WV is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support the payment cycle and vendor records. You will manage day-to-day payable activities, process invoices, verify entries, and ensure adherence to policies and regulations.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma and 3 years of AP experience (or 2 years AP and 2 accounting courses); an Associate’s Degree in Business is preferred. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of Accounts Payable experience or two years of Accounts Payable experience and two courses in Accounting.
• Associate’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs day to day management of all payment cycle activities and provides efficient customer service.
• Resolves problems associated with payables transactions.
• Maintains vendor records and ensures adherence to company policy or procedure and federal regulations.
• Audits payables related transactions for completeness, accuracy and adherence to policy and regulations.
• Enters data from transactions into the financial system.
• Applies discounts, special rates, or credit terms.
• Prepares invoices for recordkeeping purposes.
• Verifies the entry of information and checks for errors.
• Updates and maintains accounting records.
• Verifies and calculates extensions and totals on invoices, and applies discounts when applicable.
• Codes documents according to company procedure.
• Keeps track, processes and reconciles payments and expenditures.
• Ensures correct approval, sorting, coding and matching of invoices/receipts.
• Regularly tabulates data and compiles necessary reports.
• Provides responsive customer service to questions and concerns.
• Manages the ePayables program and leads the self-assessment for department compliance.
