Job summary

The Cyperus Group, a NYC-based staffing firm, is partnering with a well-established nonprofit to fill an Accounts Payable Specialist role. The position offers a range of hiring options including temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct hire opportunities in the NYC area.

The ideal candidate will manage high-volume AP tasks, match invoices to POs, process payments, and assist with month-end close while ensuring grant and program budgets are correctly charged.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience.
• Experience in nonprofit organizations is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and timely.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
• Review and verify invoices for proper approvals and coding.
• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
• Maintain vendor files and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and accruals.
• Ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate grants, programs, and department budgets when applicable.
• Monitor compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
• Assist with annual audits by providing supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and filing systems.
• Collaborate with accounting and finance team members on special projects and process improvements.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $55,000 - $60,000
