Job summary

Sunset Transportation, Inc. is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our fast-paced logistics team. You will review, verify, and process vendor invoices, maintain accurate coding and documentation, and help ensure timely payments across a growing carrier network.

You’ll manage payments, reconcile accounts, and respond to inquiries while identifying process improvements. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of accounts payable, bookkeeping, or accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Strong data entry and account reconciliation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Experience in transportation, logistics, freight payment, or a 3PL environment
• Experience with ERP, accounting, and transportation management systems
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and process vendor and carrier invoices for payment
• Ensure invoice accuracy, coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
• Prepare and process payments, including checks, ACH transactions, and electronic payments
• Manage payment schedules and ensure compliance with vendor payment terms
• Monitor outstanding balances and proactively resolve discrepancies, aging items and outstanding issues
• Respond to vendor and carrier inquiries regarding payment status
• Generate reports and analyze accounts payable activity
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
• Provide backup support through cross‑training and departmental collaboration
