Job summary

The Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) Allegany County Finance Unit seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to process invoices in FMIS, reconcile vendor accounts, and ensure compliance with state policies. You will manage EBT and gift card custody and respond to inquiries from vendors and staff regarding payments.

Requirements include a high school diploma and one year of related experience; Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required with accounting/financial data experience.
• Experience reconciling accounting systems or preparing automated financial reports.
• Ability to process invoices and respond to payment inquiries per policy.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review invoices for FMIS processing and policy compliance.
• Keypunch voucher batches and manage payments, including travel reimbursements.
• Review journals in D365 for five agency bank accounts and back up primary AP processor.
• Review CJAMS vouchers for funding approval.
• Maintain inventory and custodianship of EBT and gift cards.
• Prepare monthly batch payments for reimbursement by Comptroller.
• Answer vendor/customer inquiries on payment timelines and statuses.
