Job summary

KAHANA & FELD LLP is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to oversee all AP operations, drive process improvements, and lead the AP team in a modern law firm environment. You will ensure accurate coding, timely payments, strong internal controls, and coordination with Billing, Procurement, and Finance.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, improving procedures, and supporting client cost recovery while maintaining compliance with policy and 1099 requirements. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in accounts payable or accounting, with supervisory experience.
• Experience in a law firm or professional services is preferred.
• Strong understanding of AP controls, GL coding, reconciliations, and expense management.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full AP lifecycle from invoice receipt to record retention.
• Review invoices for documentation, approvals, coding, and policy compliance.
• Coordinate payment runs and vendor inquiries with proper approvals and segregation of duties.
• Maintain vendor records and controls for setup, tax docs, and payment instructions.
• Reconcile AP records and support month-end/year-end close, accruals, audits, and 1099s.
• Supervise AP staff, set priorities, manage workloads, and monitor accuracy.
• Coordinate with Procurement/Expense Manager on standards and training for AP analysts.
• Oversee recording of client/matter expenses and billing coordination for cost recovery.
• Coordinate AP processing for employee reimbursements and corporate credit card transactions.
• Develop procedures, reporting, and metrics to improve payment accuracy and speed.
• Partner with Finance to identify risks and implement system/workflow improvements.
• Lead special projects as assigned.
