Job summary

CooperDouglas is partnering with a West Los Angeles consumer goods company to recruit a General Accounting Manager. You will own the US and Canadian general ledger, manage close cycles and lead a small accounting team while partnering with global colleagues.

You will implement process improvements, strengthen controls and drive automation in ERP and AP workflows. A CPA is a plus. This on-site role offers a competitive base salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GL, month-end close, reconciliation and accounts payable.
• Experience leading and developing a team.
• Solid US GAAP and internal controls knowledge.
• Advanced Excel and hands-on ERP experience.
• CPA is a plus, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger activities for US and Canadian entities: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review entries, investigate variances and clear reconciling items.
• Deliver month-end close activities on time and coordinate with Director for financial reporting and audits.
• Oversee full accounts payable process: invoicing, coding, approvals, posting, vendor reconciliations and payments.
• Administer and improve AP automation platform and workflows; provide reporting and training.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures, reconciliations, controls and approval workflows.
• Identify inefficiencies and fix them through standardization, automation and better use of systems.
• Support ERP enhancements and integrations with IT and global accounting team; test and validate data.
• Lead, coach and develop two Staff Accountants and an AP Specialist.

Job description

CooperDouglas has partnered with a leading consumer packaged goods company in West Los Angeles to find a General Accounting Manager. This is a newly created role at a company that has more than doubled its headcount this year, with operations across the US and Canada and a new international entity coming online.

You will report to the Director of Accounting, own the general ledger, oversee accounts payable and lead a team of three. The Director is building out the accounting function and wants a hands‑on manager who can run the close, tighten controls and develop the junior team without needing much direction.

What you'll do

• Own general ledger activities for the US and Canadian entities: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
• Review entries, investigate variances and clear reconciling items
• Deliver your month‑end close activities on time and support the Director with close coordination, financial reporting and audit requests
• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle: invoice processing, coding, approvals, posting, vendor reconciliations and payment preparation, with proper cutoff and segregation of duties
• Administer and improve the AP automation platform and related workflows, including reporting, documentation and training
• Build and maintain accounting procedures, reconciliations, review controls and approval workflows
• Find inefficiencies, recurring errors and control gaps in GL and AP, then fix them through standardization, automation and better use of existing systems
• Support ERP enhancements and integrations with IT and the global accounting team, including testing and data validation
• Lead, coach and develop two Staff Accountants and an AP Specialist: clear expectations, priorities, deadlines and regular feedback

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GL, month‑end close, reconciliation and accounts payable work
• Experience leading and developing a team
• Solid US GAAP and internal controls knowledge
• Advanced Excel and hands‑on ERP experience
• Organized, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing competing deadlines at close
• Clear communicator who works well across departments and with international accounting teams
• A bias toward process improvement, technology and automation
• CPA is a plus, not a requirement

Nice to have: CPG, food and beverage, manufacturing or distribution experience; multi-entity or international accounting; Microsoft Dynamics 365; an AP automation tool; inventory accounting exposure.

Compensation and logistics:

$120,000 to $140,000 base salary plus benefits. The role is on‑site five days a week in West Los Angeles, with flexible hours.
