Job summary

Hoxton Circle, a growing specialty finance company headquartered in Los Angeles, seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a small team and partner with executive leadership. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting processes while driving improvements across the organization.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in accounting within financial services, a relevant degree, and a CPA in progress or preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as manager.
• Must have experience working in the financial services industry.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance with relevant coursework.
• CPA license preferred, or significant progress toward certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop 2–3 on-site and remote staff in accounting.
• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure policy compliance.
• Own GL management, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Collaborate with CFO on monthly financial statements.
• Oversee journal entry process and assist with audits.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Lead process improvements across Accounting and the organization.
• Oversee the annual 1099 process.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, manage a small team, and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership. This is a high-visibility role with meaningful growth potential within a dynamic and expanding firm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and develop 2–3 on-site and remote/outsourced accounting staff
• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure departmental compliance with policies and procedures
• Own GL management, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
• Collaborate with the CFO on monthly financial statement preparation
• Oversee journal entry process
• Support bank relationships, reporting, and periodic financial and bank audits
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Lead process improvement initiatives across the Accounting department and broader organization
• Oversee the annual 1099 process

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Experience & Education

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as manager
• Must have experience working in the financial services industry
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance with relevant accounting coursework
• CPA license preferred, or significant progress toward certification

• Strong financial and operational accounting knowledge
• Solid financial analysis capabilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency; SQL or Access experience a plus
• Experience with QuickBooks or other automated accounting systems
