Job summary

CooperDouglas is partnering with a private equity-backed financial services business to hire an Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of core accounting operations during a period of meaningful process and systems improvement.

You will oversee the month-end close, strengthen balance sheet reconciliations, and help shape how the accounting function is organized and operates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including staff supervision.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, month-end close, GL and reconciliations.
• Experience supporting external audits and internal controls.
• ERP experience and advanced Excel; system implementations a plus.
• Hands-on, resourceful; builds credibility with transactional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations across AP, AR, GL, and reconciliations.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance analysis.
• Oversee revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, and month-end accounting per US GAAP.
• Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements to close procedures.
• Document order-to-cash and procure-to-pay procedures; establish best practices.
• Support internal controls, audit schedules, and auditor requests.
• Partner with Controller on tax schedules and ad hoc analyses.
• Train and develop accounting staff; foster a high-performing team culture.

CooperDouglas is partnering with a private equity-backed financial services business to hire an Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of core accounting operations during a period of meaningful process and systems improvement. You will oversee the month-end close, strengthen balance sheet reconciliations, and help shape how the accounting function is organized and operates. This is a visible role that partners closely with finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, clearing aged reconciling items and maintaining general ledger integrity.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance and flux analysis for leadership review.
• Oversee revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, and related month-end accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
• Identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements to close procedures, workflows, and accounting policies.
• Document procedures across order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes and help establish clear, repeatable best practices.
• Support internal controls, audit schedules, and external auditor requests, keeping documentation audit-ready.
• Partner with the Controller on tax compliance schedules and ad hoc analysis for leadership and ownership.
• Train and develop accounting staff, building trust and a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience supporting or supervising staff.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, month-end and year-end close, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting external audits and operating internal controls.
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems and advanced Excel; experience with system implementations is a plus.
• Hands-on, resourceful style with strong emotional intelligence and the ability to build credibility with a transactional team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and attention to detail.

This is a hybrid role in the San Gabriel Valley, with a regular in-office schedule each week.

Compensation up to $140,000 + annual bonus + full benefits!
