Job description

We are partnering with a rapidly growing consumer brand to hire an Accounting Manager into its Los Angeles finance team.

The business has experienced significant growth across retail and ecommerce and is continuing to invest in its finance and accounting infrastructure as it scales.

This is a hands on Accounting Manager position with responsibility across the monthly close, general ledger, financial reporting, balance sheet management and accounting operations. The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance leadership and have the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen controls and help build an accounting function capable of supporting continued growth.

This role would suit someone who enjoys operating in a fast moving consumer environment and wants a position combining technical accounting ownership with process improvement and team development.

Responsibilities

• Own key areas of the monthly, quarterly and annual close process
• Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations and balance sheet accounts
• Review financial results and investigate material variances
• Support preparation of monthly financial reporting and management reporting
• Oversee accounting across areas including inventory, revenue, accruals, prepaid expenses and fixed assets
• Help ensure accurate accounting for a business operating across both retail and direct to consumer channels
• Partner with FP&A and other teams across the organization to improve the quality and consistency of financial information
• Develop and improve accounting processes, controls and documentation
• Support external audit and tax requirements
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline existing accounting processes
• Review the work of other members of the accounting team and support their continued development
• Take ownership of accounting projects as the finance function continues to evolve

About You

You will ideally have:

• Approximately 3 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience at Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant level with readiness to step into broader ownership
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles
• Experience managing or playing a significant role in the monthly close process
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger experience
• Experience within consumer products, ecommerce, retail, manufacturing or another inventory based business strongly preferred
• Experience working within a growing or changing organization
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with modern ERP systems, in particular netsuite
• CPA qualification or public accounting experience beneficial but not essential
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance and the wider business
