Job summary

Alaka‘i Executive Search has partnered with a Hawaii-based client seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the Accounting Department. The role focuses on financial reporting, month-end and year-end closes, audit support, general ledger accounting, and multi-entity operations for a diversified real estate development organization.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, strong U.S.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, account reconciliations, auditing, and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review financial reports, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Coordinate audit preparation and serve as primary contact during audits.
• Support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and internal control activities.
• Review intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
• Partner with HR on payroll, benefits, and financial reconciliations as needed.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen accounting procedures and controls.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to accounting staff.

What You'll Do
