  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day accounting operations to ensure the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Directly supervises accounting employees, temporary staff, interns, and/or contractors, including work assignment, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Participates in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, promotion, discipline, and separation of employees.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in evaluating accounting, financial reporting, operational, regulatory, and compliance matters.
  • Establishes departmental priorities, allocates resources, manages workloads, and monitors workflow to ensure efficient and timely completion of accounting activities.
  • Collaborates with the AVP Assistant Controller to establish departmental goals, monitor performance against objectives, and implement strategies to improve operational effectiveness and employee performance.
  • Makes recommendations regarding staffing levels, organizational structure, employee development, compensation, promotions, corrective action.
  • Evaluates employee performance, provides ongoing coaching and feedback, identifies training needs, and develops succession plans.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinates accounting activities and monitors departmental deadlines to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
  • Assists with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Performs and reviews analyses of financial results, investigates variances, and prepares explanations for management.
  • Supports quarterly regulatory reporting, including the FDIC Call Report.
  • Coordinates audit requests and assists with internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Reviews audit schedules and supporting work papers for accuracy.
  • Assists with annual budgeting and forecasts.
  • Researches accounting, regulatory, and financial reporting issues and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Leads process improvement initiatives within accounting functions.
  • Documents and updates accounting procedures and SOPs.
  • Serves as back-up to the Assistant Controller and supports planning and special projects.
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives impacting accounting and financial reporting.
  • Assists with succession planning and employee development.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for managing the daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company's financial records. This position owns the day-to-day accounting function, supervises and develops accounting staff, and oversees the recording of transactions, account reconciliations, and the monthly, quarterly, and annual close. The Accounting Manager reviews the work of the accounting team, supports the preparation and analysis of financial statements, regulatory reporting, and audits, maintains effective internal controls, and leads process improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager serves as the senior day-to-day accounting resource within the department and as a backup to the Assistant Controller.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

This position is performed primarily in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The role involves repetitive hand and finger movements, including typing and using a mouse, as well as extended screen time. The workspace is typically climate-controlled with standard office lighting and noise levels. Occasional walking, standing, or light lifting (up to 15 pounds) may be required.
