Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Senior Accountant in Mason, MI for a 6-month contract. The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience, a degree in Accounting, and strong Excel skills. Responsibilities include general ledger management, month-end close, and financial analysis for acquired entities.

You will work with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, perform reconciliations, and support forecasts and models. Prior experience with acquisitions is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years progressive accounting experience including consolidations and balance sheets.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word/Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, input monthly journal entries and review variances.
• Coordinate month-end close and prepare financial statements.
• Assist in consolidation of acquired entities and provide analysis.
• Ensure monthly WIP and accrual analyses are complete.
• Reconcile P&L and balance sheet accounts and analyze variances.
• Support monthly/quarterly/annual close processes with accounting team.
• Collaborate with Director of Accounting to drive team performance.
• Assist in forecasting and develop financial models for projects.

Senior Accountant

Contract, 6 month estimate

Must Haves

• 5+ years progressive accounting experience (consolidations, MEC, balance sheets)
• Proficient in excel
• Good organization/attention to detail
• Degree in Finance/Accounting

Preferred

• Sage ERP
• Acquisition intergration experience plus

Essential responsibilities and duties include:

• Maintain general ledger, prepare and input monthly journal entries, review and explain variances from budget and forecast.
• Coordinate and manage the month-end close process through financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Assist in preparation of integrated financials from acquired entities, provide analysis and process assistance to acquired entities.
• Ensure monthly WIP/accrual analysis and entry is complete.
• Reconciliation and variance analysis of P&L and B/S accounts.
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting close process.
• Work closely with the Director of Accounting in organizing and driving the Accounting Team.
• Perform monthly financial reviews of certain service areas to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial results.
• Work with project/branch managers and to understand financials and assist with preparation of forecasts and various financial models.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Five or more years of accounting experience utilizing various accounting methodologies and a background that shows a progression of increasing responsibilities.
• Successful candidate will be deadline oriented, organized, possess strong time-management skills and have strong attention to detail.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Nice to haves:

• Experience in the service and manufacturing industry preferred.
• Experience with Sage a plus.
• Experience in acquisition integration a plus.
