Job summary

The Employee Connect is seeking a Senior Accountant in Chicago, IL to support financial reporting, the general ledger, month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, and audits. This is a permanent, direct-hire role reporting to the CFO with no direct reports.

The right candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and discreet with confidential information, collaborating across departments to improve financial practices and outcomes. Onsite, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Significant accounting experience at the mid-senior level.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable experience.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization while multitasking.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Flexible and adaptive to changing events.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing, posting, and adjusting entries.
• Assist with monthly financials and the month-end close process.
• Conduct general ledger and bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
• Assist with budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between forecast and actual results.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation and addressing auditor requests.
• Analyze account balances and transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Enter vendor payables using a three-way match process, resolve vendor discrepancies, maintain vendor account data, and process the weekly check run.
• Post cash receipts and electronic and paper checks, reconcile credit card transactions, resolve customer discrepancies, and contact past due customers.
• Use accounting software and ERP systems to manage financial data.
• Provide administrative support for special projects.
