Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accountant (Contract) to provide immediate hands-on support across core accounting operations. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who has operated in fast-paced, complex environments, can step into existing processes with minimal ramp-up, and is comfortable owning deliverables from day one.
The Senior Accountant will partner closely with leadership, FP&A, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Accounting & Close
- Perform and review month-end and period-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP
- Own general ledger integrity, ensuring timely and accurate postings
- Identify, research, and resolve accounting variances and discrepancies
- Produce internal financial reporting packages for leadership
- Perform variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc financial analysis
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis as needed
- Assist with audit preparation, including schedules and auditor support
Operational & Project Accounting
- Support job costing / project accounting, WIP schedules, and margin analysis (where applicable)
- Manage or support fixed assets, depreciation, capital projects, and inventory accounting
- Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Systems & Process Improvement
- Work within and help optimize ERP and accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Oracle, Dynamics, SAP, QuickBooks, Costpoint, or similar)
- Assist with or lead system implementations, upgrades, or process redesigns
- Document procedures and recommend improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency
- Leverage advanced Excel and reporting tools to improve visibility and accuracy
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with FP&A, operations, payroll, AP/AR, and leadership teams
- Communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Serve as a trusted accounting resource during periods of change, growth, or transition
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior accountant or higher-level responsibilities
- Manage or support fixed assets, depreciation, capital projects, and inventory accounting
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Demonstrated experience supporting month-end close in complex environments
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and accounting platforms
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Interim Accounting Lead
- Experience with process optimization, system implementations, or clean-up engagements
