Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support payment processing, month-end close, and reporting for accounts receivable. You will prepare journal entries and ensure accurate billing and collections across branches.

The role requires at least 18 years old and an associate degree in accounting or finance (or related experience). Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic accounting principles are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of related work experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new systems.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Enter and process third party payments and reconcile to member and organization accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities for government and agency receivables.
• Prepare journal entries as needed and maintain supporting documentation.
• Generate accounts receivable reports including aging, cash collections, and bad debt analysis.
• Train branch staff on membership and operating processes and procedures.
• Assist branches with data required by third party billing agencies.
