In this role as an Account Manager, you will retain and drive new business at accounts in a manner that meets or exceeds the business needs of key customers, differentiates Corning’s Life Sciences division within the marketplace, and supports the achievement of the division’s sales and profit objectives. We look for you to develop new markets/customers/applications. You will represent the organization as the prime contact on contracts and projects. You will interact with senior external personnel on significant technical and commercial matters often requiring coordination between departments and organizations. We look for you to possess the ability to influence organizations both internally and externally.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed sales budget for the territory.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and distributors.
  • Implement aggressive growth-driven programs with distribution.
  • Work as a team with other account managers.
  • Build relationships with all internal functional groups.
  • Create, implement, and maintain a sales plan that meets or exceeds performance requirements.
  • Know your products and channel/market/customer dynamics/drivers.
  • Manage all facets of responsibilities within the framework of Corning’s values.
  • Up to 25% with some overnights needed.
  • Territory includes Virginia and District of Columbia (relocation assistance is not offered for this role).
Requirements
  • Sales or relevant experience in the Life Sciences market.
  • Previous sales experience with a record of meeting or exceeding sales budget.
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Business skills – financial analysis (sales analysis, trend reporting, usage reporting, pricing analysis).
  • Candidate must reside within the territory.
Desired Experience/Skills
  • Lab experience in Cell Culture and Molecular Biology.
  • Experience with SalesForce.com or equivalent CRM.
  • Knowledge of customer base in the territory.

The range for this position is $67,821.00-$93,255.00 assuming full-time status plus an attractive variable compensation package. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
