Atlas Global Talent is seeking an Account Executive to join the Chicago sales team and drive new-business in transportation and logistics. You will develop relations with shippers, understand freight needs, and craft solutions on an established platform.
This consultative sales role emphasizes hunting for new accounts, multi-level stakeholder engagement, and long-term portfolio development with base salary plus commissions.
My client is an established logistics provider looking to add an experienced Account Executive to its Chicago sales team.
This is a new-business-focused position for someone who knows how to prospect, open doors and develop profitable customer relationships within transportation and logistics.
You'll be given the platform and operational infrastructure of an established logistics business, but the commercial side of the role is very much about creating your own opportunities and winning new customers.
With a $65,000–$100,000 base salary, additional earning potential and a strong benefits package, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 3PL salesperson looking for their next move.
As an Account Executive, you'll be responsible for identifying, pursuing and closing new business opportunities.
You'll develop relationships with transportation and supply chain decision-makers, understand their freight requirements and work internally to build logistics solutions around those needs.
This is a consultative sales position rather than simply transactional freight selling. You'll be expected to build relationships at multiple levels within an organisation, including senior and C-suite contacts, while developing accounts with long-term potential.
Once business is secured, you'll continue developing those relationships and identifying opportunities to expand the account.
Prospect and develop new shipper accounts
Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of new business opportunities
Identify companies that fit the organisation's target customer profile
Engage directly with transportation, logistics, procurement and supply chain decision-makers
Develop relationships with senior and C-suite stakeholders
Understand customer transportation challenges and identify appropriate logistics solutions
Present transportation capabilities and commercial solutions to prospective customers
Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through negotiation and close
Work collaboratively with internal operations and logistics teams to support customer requirements
Maintain regular communication with customers following implementation
Identify additional opportunities to grow and expand existing accounts
Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline activity
Consistently work towards individual sales and revenue objectives
Stay informed on freight-market conditions and wider transportation trends
My client is particularly interested in proven logistics salespeople who already understand how to generate their own opportunities.
Ideally, you'll have:
4+ years of relevant sales experience
A proven track record within transportation, logistics or 3PL sales
Experience independently prospecting and winning new shipper customers
Strong business development and relationship-building skills
Confidence communicating with senior decision-makers
Experience developing relationships at C-suite level is highly advantageous
Strong commercial and negotiation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
A disciplined approach to prospecting and pipeline management
The persistence required to develop opportunities over longer sales cycles
A proactive, self-motivated approach to new business
The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced and competitive sales environment
Candidates coming directly from a freight brokerage or 3PL environment will be particularly relevant.
$65,000 – $100,000 base salary, depending on experience and previous production
Additional commission / incentive earning potential
Medical insurance options
Dental coverage
Vision coverage
Life and AD&D insurance
Short-term and long-term disability coverage
Paid time off
Training and ongoing mentorship
Career development and progression opportunities
Full-time, permanent position
Monday to Friday schedule
This role provides the opportunity to sell within an established logistics platform while retaining the autonomy expected of a successful Account Executive.
You'll be able to build your own pipeline, develop relationships with shippers and senior decision-makers, and create a long-term portfolio of customers rather than simply managing accounts handed to you.
For an experienced 3PL or transportation salesperson who enjoys hunting for new business and wants a strong base salary, additional earning potential and the backing of an established logistics operation, this could be a very attractive next step.
