Job description

My client is an established logistics and transportation provider looking to add an experienced Account Executive to its Tampa sales team. This is a customer-facing freight brokerage sales position focused on developing new shipper business, building long-term relationships and creating a profitable portfolio of accounts.

The role is suited to someone who enjoys the commercial side of logistics: prospecting, opening doors, understanding customer transportation challenges and turning those conversations into long-term business.

You'll have the backing of an established brokerage operation, carrier network and operational infrastructure, allowing you to focus heavily on sales, relationships and account growth.

The Role

As an Account Executive, your primary responsibility will be generating new customer business within the US freight market.

You’ll identify prospective shippers, engage transportation and supply chain decision-makers and develop logistics solutions around their freight requirements.

This is a genuine hunter-focused sales position. You’ll be expected to create your own opportunities, maintain an active pipeline and consistently develop new customer relationships.

Once business is secured, you’ll remain commercially involved in the relationship, working alongside internal operations and carrier teams to ensure customers receive the service required to retain and grow the account.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Prospect and develop new shipper customers
  • Generate new business through outbound calls, email, networking, referrals and other prospecting activity
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified sales opportunities
  • Engage Transportation Managers, Logistics Directors, Supply Chain leaders, Procurement teams and other decision‑makers
  • Understand customer freight volumes, lanes, service requirements and transportation challenges
  • Develop transportation solutions around individual customer requirements
  • Prepare pricing and commercial proposals
  • Negotiate rates and commercial agreements with prospective customers
  • Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through negotiation and close
  • Build long‑term customer relationships rather than focusing purely on transactional freight
  • Work closely with carrier sales and operations teams to ensure new business is executed effectively
  • Maintain regular communication with customers following implementation
  • Identify opportunities to increase shipment volume and expand existing accounts
  • Maintain accurate prospect, pipeline and customer activity within CRM
  • Work towards individual revenue and gross profit targets
  • Maintain awareness of market rates, capacity and changing freight conditions
  • Meet customers and prospects face‑to‑face where it helps develop the relationship or move an opportunity forward
What My Client Is Looking For
  • Previous experience within freight brokerage, 3PL or transportation sales
  • Proven ability to prospect and generate new shipper business
  • Strong customer sales and business development experience
  • Experience developing your own sales pipeline rather than relying solely on inbound opportunities
  • Confidence speaking with transportation, logistics and supply chain decision‑makers
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of freight pricing, gross profit and margins
  • Knowledge of the US transportation and freight brokerage market
  • Experience selling FTL, LTL and other domestic transportation solutions
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to manage longer‑term sales opportunities while maintaining consistent daily prospecting activity
  • High level of urgency and follow‑through
  • Self‑motivated and comfortable working within a performance‑driven sales environment
  • Existing shipper relationships or a transferable customer network would be highly advantageous, particularly within Florida and the wider Southeast market.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $65,000 – $100,000 base salary, depending on experience and previous production
  • Additional commission and performance‑based earning potential
  • Medical insurance options
  • Dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Established brokerage and operational infrastructure
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Long‑term career progression opportunities
Why Consider It?

This is an opportunity for an experienced freight salesperson to concentrate on what they do best: finding opportunities, winning customers and building a profitable book of business.

You’ll have the resources of an established logistics operation behind you while retaining the autonomy to develop your own pipeline and customer relationships.

Rather than being limited to simply managing accounts that already exist, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own customer base and directly influence your earnings through the business you generate.

For someone already selling within freight brokerage or 3PL who wants a strong platform to continue developing their career, this could be an excellent next move.
