Job summary

Volunteer State Community College is seeking a Coordinator of Accessible Technology to provide technical assistance and training on assistive technologies across locations. Responsibilities include managing accommodated testing requests and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

The role supports development and maintenance of accessibility policies, coordinates with multiple departments, and may travel to regional campuses as needed to deliver services and testing support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• One year of related experience required.
• Experience with assistive technologies (screen readers, note-taking software, magnifiers) preferred.
• Experience in higher education and with accommodated testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities in acquiring accessible materials and formats.
• Train students to use assistive technologies and manage equipment loans/returns.
• Train faculty in assistive technologies to enable accessible teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff on accessibility initiatives and procurement inputs.
• Coordinate with IT, Distributed Education, and Web Design to promote universal access and implement assistive tech.
• Monitor compliance with WCAG 2.1, Section 508, ADAAA and related laws.
• Support the Access Center’s testing accommodations and test proctoring needs.
• Travel to regional campuses to provide assistive tech services and testing support.
• Oversee intake, scheduling, coordination, and administration of accommodated testing services.
• Serve on committees such as Computing and Technology Committee and pursue professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.
