The Access Services librarian will coordinate daily circulation services, including tracking course reserves, documenting user borrowing standards, and facilitating collection access for onsite and digital users. Additional duties will include individualized instruction at the reference desk, service through academic or library committees, and adherence to faculty librarian scholarship standards. The librarian may oversee a small number of part-time staff or student worker direct reports and complete basic administrative tasks. **Responsibilities**:* Manage to 2-4 part-time employees in access services.* Create access services schedules for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.* Provide training for circulation services, including item lending, lamination, comb binding, printing, scanning, and other related tasks.* Develop access services policies and procedures.* Maintain collection statistics for common access services, such as annual lending, gate counts, and request types.* Maintain circulation policy and permission settings in the Alma LMS.* Staff the reference desk for 8 to 12 hours per week, split across two or more shifts, including one weekday evening.* Develop collections in assigned subject fields that could include biology, chemistry, criminal justice, sociology, business, or other areas, depending on skill set and in partnership with faculty.* Manage and coordinate library displays.* Assist with library outreach and marketing, as needed, to help the department connect with campus and community members. Events may take place on or off campus.* Assist with library instruction or public service events, as needed. **Faculty Research and Service:*** Serves as a member of committees in the library and the university.* Remains current in the library discipline and assigned liaison areas.* Publishes chapters, book reviews, or other peer-reviewed written content for theoretical or practical aspects of the library field.* Participates in conferences and professional organizations.**Minimum Qualifications*** *Education -* A Master of Library Science (MLS) degree, Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree, or another equivalent from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited university or college.* Must be self-motivated, creative, and innovative with excellent interpersonal skills. **Preferred Qualifications*** Second master’s degree, with a preference for the hard sciences, computer science, social sciences, or business.* A bachelor’s degree in the hard sciences, computer science, social sciences, or business.* Two years of experience in a library, with a preference for academic libraries.* Experience working in access services or an adjacent role at a library, with more weight given for two or more years of access services experience.* Experience managing employees, especially student workers or part-time library employees. More weight will be given for management in the context of access services.* Experience providing library instruction.* Experience working in reference at an academic library.* Experience managing circulation policy and permission settings in the library's ILS (Alma) or a similar ILS. **Additional Responsibilities - May supervise other employees** *Ability to* – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
