Job summary

Norfolk State University is seeking an Academic Success Coordinator to oversee the tutoring lab, coordinate tutoring assignments, hire and supervise tutors, and ensure services support student success.

You will develop reports, collaborate with faculty and departments, train staff, and participate in continuous improvement of academic support initiatives; prior experience in education and strong communication required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related discipline.
• Experience in an educational setting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Organizational and supervisory experience in an educational setting.
• In-depth knowledge of learning assistance models and best practices.
• Ability to establish and assess work expectations.
• Strong interpersonal and effective oral and written skills.
• Ability to work and interact effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff to meet the goals of student success.
• Demonstrated experience using spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer-based information systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee tutoring lab operations and schedule tutoring assignments.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate tutors.
• Develop and manage tutoring reports and analytics.
• Coordinate training programs and workshops for tutors.
• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to implement academic support initiatives.
• Maintain inventory of instructional materials and tools.
• Lead the tutoring services advisory board.
