What we want The Graduate Academic Advisor III (Academic Navigator) advises MD students, manages student records, develops advising materials, and coordinates events. They assist in developing advising policies, evaluate practices, and mentor advising staff. May also advise student organizations and support program coordination for the Office of Academic Success.

Graduate Student Advising Advises MD students on programmatic requirements and academic processes Collaborates with students to establish realistic goals, provides outreach, communicates important dates and deadlines, and offers necessary resources Manages the accurate documentation of graduate students and their academic progress Reviews academic records and refers to academic support services Monitors student progress and degree requirements Tracks and monitors residency interviews Verifies completion of degree requirements Advise students on both clerkship and elective schedules Graduate Advising Support Develops and maintains advising materials and resources for students Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments Holds group and class meetings as well as individual appointments Maintains records of student contacts Coordinates advising events and programs Coordinates Academic Success Services as assigned Plans and organizes annual elective fair Assists in developing and implementing advising policies and procedures Provides guidance to faculty on university processes and policies for graduate programs Evaluates and improves advising practices based on department and student feedback and program outcomes Schedule and Registration Management Assures students are registered each semester within set timelines Assists students with adds/drops, withdrawals, and changes of curriculum Manage enrollment rosters (LOA, adjusting grad year, transitioning between programs) Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree Required Experience Three (3) years of experience in higher education or related field Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in education, Counseling, or a related field Five (5) years of advising or related experiences Experience advising or coordinating for health professions education programs Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others Ability to present information clearly and concisely Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
