Job summary

Marblehead Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the Special Education ABA Program at Marblehead High School. The 30-hour-per-week role supports students with disabilities in classroom and internship/job-site settings, under supervision of the Special Education Administrator.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP-based instruction, behavior support, collaboration with staff, safeguarding confidentiality, and assisting with transportation to sites.

Qualifications

• Approach interactions through an anti-ableism lens.
• ABA experience preferred, but not required.
• Willingness to receive training in crisis management and deescalation.
• Some positions require the ability to move quickly with students and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive milieu.
• Must have current MA Driver's License and clean driving record.
• Possession of or willingness to get a MA RMV 7D license.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practices.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with student IEPs and implement specialized instruction under supervision.
• Follow student behavior plans and safety contracts; apply preventative strategies.
• Be willing to ask for assistance and participate in required training.
• Assist teacher with homework, handouts, reteach and clarification of class work.
• Collaborate and communicate with teachers and supervisors as needed.
• Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
• Understand disabilities in the classroom and seek needed information.
• Carry out related special education duties as assigned by administration.
• Responsible for safe transportation and supervision of students to job sites.
• Ensure safety and well-being of students on site.
• Provide actionable feedback aligned with goals and schedules.
• Comply with all components of a student’s IEP.
• Maintain confidentiality after hours.
