Job summary

Barnstable Public Schools, serving Barnstable United Elementary School in Barnstable, MA, seeks an Instructional Assistant for a NECC ABA-based program. You will support the partner classroom teacher and provide direct educational services to students with special needs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and experience in special education (preferred). You will work under the PARAPROFESSIONAL contract terms and uphold confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in special education preferred.
• Physical condition capable of managing behaviorally/physically challenging students.

Responsibilities

• Daily: ensures the safety of all students.
• Provides 30 hours of direct educational services.
• Incorporates specific educational objectives into ongoing activities.
• Facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills.
• Collects data on targeted skills.
• Communicates with parents of case student(s) via communication log.
• Relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor.
• Maintains student notebook in neat and orderly manner.
• Maintains student-specific materials, reinforcers.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of this job description.
• Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Implements curriculum and/or curriculum material as required.
