Job Description

Marblehead Public Schools is seeking qualified, energetic, and passionate support staff to work with students with disabilities at Marblehead High School both in the classroom and at potential internships or job sites. This is a 30 hour per week position, working under the direct supervision of the Special Education Administrator. The tutor assists in the implementation of specialized instruction to students who qualify for special education services.

  • Be familiar with student IEP's and able to implement specialized instruction under the direct supervision of the special education teacher/specialist
  • Be familiar with student's behavior plan and safety contract; follow through with preventative management strategies
  • Be willing to ask for assistance and be available for any required training in areas that pertain to expected job skills
  • Assist teacher in keeping students accountable for homework, handouts and other assignments and reteach, provide explanation and clarify class or homework
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with teachers/supervisors/specialists as requested by supervising teacher
  • Maintain student confidentially at work and after hours at all times
  • Understand the range of disabilities within a classroom and ask for information if particular disabilities are not understood
  • Carry out other related special education duties as may be assigned by building or student services administration
  • Responsible for the safe transportation and supervision of students to job sites
  • Ensure safety and well-being of students on site
  • Provide positive, actionable feedback to students that is aligned with their goals, vision, and schedule
  • Comply with all components of a student's IEP
  • Maintain student confidentiality at all times
